Beauty and The Buzz
Are You a Golddigger? by The Average Guy
A few days ago, I was watching the Today show when they did a segment on marrying billionaires. The story focused on how to marry a billionaire. Well, I'm not a billionaire so I don't have to worry about whale hunters looking for me. But, let's think about the question of whether you should consider a person's wealth when deciding who you will date.
This is a tough question. I never wanted to date poor women because I always felt like I would have to take care of them. I guess it really didn't matter whether she was poor, but whether she had to have drive and initiative to try to better herself.
I wanted a partnership. Not purely in terms of finances, but I wanted someone who was bringing something to the table. Brains, potential and desire were enough. If a person is nothing but a taker and not a contributor, then they don't bring anything and hooking up with them becomes a losing proposition.
Are you surprised that men feel this way?
These days it seems that it is okay for women to seek men who will provide for them and take care of them. This ability is measured purely in terms of financial status. There are also men who are seeking these women. They are rich and have all of the appropriate 'props' for the lifestyle. They have the boats, the watches, the houses and the cars. These are the props to show that they have money and thus attract the women who are looking for that type of man.
That is a sad life for a man. He believes that he has so little to offer as a person that he must literally have things to attract women. Can you imagine how painful this thought must be? But this is just the sort of man that would attract the woman that's looking for the rich man. I have seen these couples with my own eyes and it is quite obvious why they are together.
Don't get me wrong, money is great. It can make your life better and afford you some opportunities that might not come to those that aren't financially capable. But, money will not make your heart skip a beat for your love. Money will not make you ache with anticipation for your lover. Money will not bring a smile to your face when you think of him. Money will not make you trust him.
By the way, the guys with the props also view the woman as a prop. Remember, when any prop gets to be used and worn out, you trade it in for another one. However, you don't trade people that you love.
