'Cougars' are all the rage. This new breed of woman is defined as an older woman that dates younger men. Let's assume for our purposes that a younger person is defined as at least 10 years younger than the cougar.
What's the attraction of the older woman? I have asked myself this, but let's think about it.
- Forty today is not the forty of yesterday. When my mother was 40, I remember her and her friends looking like dowdy, old women. They never lost the baby weight and they looked like women who were obsessed with children and running the household. Today, woman of a certain age look to Demi Moore as their hero. They look to Halle Berry. These women in their 40's can swim in the babe pool at any time.
- Older women are women, not girls. These Cougars know what they want. They are in touch with their sexual sides. They are not trying to impress anyone and they don't really care what their parents think. They are grounded and self assured. These women have life experiences and they have knowledge. They have something to talk about.
- They don't need a man to take care of them. You'd be surprised but a lot of men are looking for partners. They are not looking for someone to take care of. These Cougars can take care of themselves and don't need a younger man to take them out. They have strength and come to the relationship with power and money.
Now, just because the rules of the game are changing doesn't mean you should act like guys. Come on, we've all seen that old guy with the hot young girl and we know that she is clearly with him for the money. You can look like that too. Don't date someone too young for you. Ten years younger than you is as far as you should go. Why? Well, you won't have a lot to talk about past sex. Your music is different, your friends are way older and you are older. You just don't have as much in common.
Hey girls, I urge you to get your 'young' on, but be realistic. A 50 year old man is not going to pull Jessica Alba and you aren't going to get her male equivalent. But, you can get someone younger and hot. Men, the tables have turned!!!
