Dating With Kids? Here's What You Need to Know! by The Average Guy
Q: Hey, Average Guy! I'm 38 years old and recently divorced. I have two wonderful boys that I adore and cherish. I have a 33 year old friend that I think likes me, but I'm wondering if kids would scare him off. What do you think?

A: Maybe and maybe not. Kids don't scare the average guy away if they are nice kids. Some guys will look at kids and say, 'Great!!! They're housebroken and they sleep through the night. How hard can this be? Cool!!' Other guys will say, 'I have to deal with another guy's kids and the other guy. This is too hard.' So, it depends on who you ask.
Generally, if you date a guy with kids, he will love yours. Once you've had a child, you generally like children, including other people's kids. You've been through eating dinner early so that the child can get to bed on time. You've been through temper tantrums and you understand why it can take 90 minutes to get two kids dressed, fed and put to bed. This guy will get everything that you are going through as a parent.
This is not to say that you should rule out other guys that don't have children because they may want them. They may also feel that they are too old to start having infants but they may love a 10-year-old.
Another way to find out is just talking about your kids. If he follows along in the conversation and asks questions, then it would seem that he is interested in that aspect of your life. If not, then that tells you all you need to know.
The important thing is to have someone around your kids that will love them and keep them safe.
