Five Fun Ways to Overcome Your Fear the Easy Way! by DDHG Editorial Team
We've all experienced it - the fear that grips you when you see a cute guy in the supermarket glancing your way, or how about when you've got to make a presentation for work? Not fun, but it can be! Here are five fun ways to overcome your fears!
1. The naked thing really does work. You know how they say picture the person you're speaking in front of naked? It really does work. When you're up in front of a crowd, fix your eyes on one person at the back of the room as you speak. Imagining that person in his or her birthday suit will put your fears to rest. After all, there's really nothing to be afraid of, right? And don't giggle when you get that mental picture as your speaking, either! :)
2. Deep breathes chance the fear demons away. Anticipating something we dread causes us to tense up and feel anxious. Take a few deep breaths before your big moment and relax. Try breathing in a series of ten quick breaths, followed by a couple of deep ones. Hold your breath for about twenty seconds and exhale. Feel the fear just rushing right out of you!
3. Be prepared. This won't work if you just happen upon a cute guy who walks into your path, but it will work for just about anything else. Know your stuff. Nothing helps you feel relaxed, like feeling prepared and assured that you know your stuff!
4. If you see that hunk that just walked by you and is giving you a longer-than-usual stare, don't run for the hills in fear. Instead, stand there confident, assured and stare right back. If you're feeling fearless, go up to him and start a conversation.
5. Give yourself a break. We've all got fears and insecurities. The key is how well we handle them. You'll still tense up when you see a cute guy or right before that important presentation, but don't be too hard on yourself. Overcoming your fears is something that takes practice and won't happen overnight!
