How to Cope Post-Divorce and Have Fun Along the Way! by The Average Guy
Well, my dear, the cad that you promised to live your life with is gone. Gone are his bad habits that drove you to divorce. So, what now. You're in your thirties and alone. You haven't dated anybody in ten years and the thought of another man seeing you in the buff sends you into a fit.
The first thing you should do is grieve. You have suffered a tremendous loss. The loss is not the marriage. You were unhappy and went through a divorce. But, you have lost your dreams. When you got married, you stood in front of your family and friends and swore life long devotion to your ex-husband. It is okay to be sad about it and you don't need to apologize for it.
The second thing you should do is figure out why you chose the person that you chose. We all have types that we love. These types might not be the right people for you. The 'bad boy' that you loved fifteen years may not be the right person for you now. You don't want to pick your ex again. What I mean by this is that you could go out and pick a person with the same characteristics and the same problems if you aren't careful.
The third thing that you should do is sit still for a while and examine what really happened in your divorce. Believe it or not, you shared a part in the divorce. You are party to blame for what went wrong in the marriage. You need to find out what you were doing to contribute to the dissolution of your marriage. You did something. Marriages don't work because of one person and they don't end because of one person. Don't be tempted to think you're the 'Virgin Mary' and you are faultless. That's wrong.
We have taken care of the inside so now let's take care of the outside. Let's start with the gym. Get there and workout. You have probably let yourself go a little bit. Go to the gym and set a goal. Go meet that goal. It will make you feel more confident and ready for the dating world.
Display confidence! If you've ever had to select a puppy, they breeders always tell you that you should select a puppy that comes right up to you. They don't tell you to buy the puppy that is cowering in the corner and afraid to make eye contact. Even if you are a little over weight, fake it until you make it. You have seen that person that carries themselves like they are the hottest thing alive. Well, that's pretty attractive. Confidence makes men say, 'Hey, why does she think she's so hot? There must be something there.' Everybody wants to be associated with success.
