If a guy tells you he needs space, he may think you're too clingy. He may think the relationship is moving too fast or he may want to date someone else that he just met. There are a number of reasons guys throw out that old cliché. One thing is clear though, he doesn't want to be with you. If you are going to take a break or give him space, then find out what the rules are of this 'space time'. If you really want to test it, then tell him that you'll be dating other people. If he tells you okay, he was just looking for a non-confrontational way to break with you. If he says he doesn't want you to date other people, he may really just need a little room to think about things.
