Empower Yourself
Find True Love This Valentine's Day! by DDHG

1. Dump the duds. Don't stay with him just for the convenience of having someone around. If you're not really into a guy or you now in your heart that he's a loser, dump him and make room in your life for true love. You can't have love in your life if your social calendar is cluttered with carousing casanovas.

2. Decide what you really want. What do you really want in a man? Write down your top criteria, make sure it's realistic (we can't all have Brad Pitt), and review it when you go on a date with a guy. Practicing this regularly will also help you weed out the guys you don't want to involve yourself with any further.

3. Don't repeat last year's same old behaviors. Just don't do it. Don't date the same old jerks you usually date. Don't go to the same places you usually go. Mix it up socially in 2007! Date a guy you never thought you'd normally not be attracted to. Go to a bar you'd never normally go to. Enroll in a gym class '" yoga, spinning or kickboxing or whatever it is that will get your butt in gear.

4. Formally announce your quest for true love to everyone who will listen. Tell your friends, neighbors, co-workers, fellow churchgoers and anyone else you know that you're looking for Mister Right. There's nothing like having support in your quest for the perfect guy.

5. Get an attitude adjustment. Remember, you're trying to attract a great guy. This requires having a great attitude and a positive vibe. You can't have either if you're sending the wrong signals. Try your best to keep things in your life upbeat. You will attract positive energy and people.

6. Dare to be different. A lot of women settle for the first guy who shows them a bit of attention. Don't be like them. Don't settle. Commit to the man you find that meets your criteria.

7. Take care of yourself, first. Focus on you and what you need from a relationship. This is key to finding the kind of relationship you want. Ask yourself what you want from the man of your dreams?

8. Kick up some dust. Don't get stuck in a rut. Add two new things to your morning routine. Take the scenic route to work every other day, go for a jog before you get to the office or surprise your significant other with flowers when you get home.

9. Get creative. Awaken your inner Picasso by hitting the art supply store and painting that masterpiece you've always imagined. Challenge yourself to bake that red velvet cake you love so much. Color with your children in the evening. Make a romantic card by hand for your significant other. Tap into your creative side and add an exciting element to your life.

10. Stop procrastinating. Life is too short, period. Get on with the business of living in all aspects of your life '" personal, financial, spiritual and professional.
