Or maybe you've received an e-mail touting the fact that a certain company is in need of mystery shoppers? We've seen them too and we wanted to know how so-called "mystery shoppers" really got their gigs. How does one get paid to shop? Getting paid to buy shoes, clothes, purses and every other thing ladies love would be a dream!
Turns out those little ads are mostly scams and the large amounts of money promised in salary is grossly overhyped. Though the ads promise thousands or even millions in income, according to ShopSmart Magazine, real mystery shoppers average roughly $15-25 per assignment, which may vary from shopping sprees at Nordstrom to find out if the help is being friendly to customers to exploring service stations bathrooms to find out if the toilets are clean! Yuck!
