Empower Yourself
Live the Life You Want to Lead in 2007! by DDHG
1. Share yourself with others. Share your time, talent, ideas and support with your friends, family, coworkers and spouse. Build a solid support network.
2. Read the newspaper. Or any other printed material that inspires your mind. Allot half an hour each day to reading a periodical that stimulates your mind.
3. Laugh. It's the best remedy for stress!
4. Eat healthy and exercise. It's the foundation for living a productive life.
5. Exercise. Exercise. Exercise. Enough said.
6. Persevere. Challenge yourself to improve all aspects of your life even if it hurts a little. In the gym, do an extra twenty reps of squats; at the mall, park your car a little further away and walk. Get up twenty minutes earlier than you normally do and do sit-ups, push-ups and leg raises.
7 . Find a spiritual center on your life. Whatever religion you are, find a spiritual connection. Meditate daily. Attend a weekly church service. Join a prayer group.
8. Save your pennies. Overhaul your finances in 2007. Did you know that according to MSN Money Americans' personal savings fell to -0.5% last year, the first time since the Depression that the savings rate has been negative for a year? As women, we've got to step up our rate of savings. Ladies, the first step is to invest in a copy of the book, Smart Women Finish Rich: 9 Steps to Achieving Financial Security and Funding Your Dreams by David Bach. Granted, it's written by a guy, but it's a great book that will give you tips on how to increase your savings and enrich your life financially. 9. Delay that Starbucks latte. Or anything else, for that matter, that you don't need. It's called delaying your gratification. Don't buy that brand new computer for $5,000 unless you've got five grand in the bank. Instead, plan and save for purchases of those fabulous things you want, but clearly don't need.
10. Pursue the positive. Commit to putting yourself in positive environments. Surround yourself with positive people, do volunteer work for a charity organization, organize a soiree to cheer your girlfriend up after a break-up. Make it a point to simply ooze positive energy this year!
