Mi Hombre Es Un Mentiroso! by Latina.com

Cheating Hearts

Meet Sarah Jamison, who makes her living enticing married men into having an affair. The catch? Their wives pay her to do it.
As told to Rachel Iverson

I´m sitting in a bar alone, smiling at this hot hombre, wondering, Will he make a move or not? That´s the million-dollar question of the night. Really, it is. That´s why I´m here. I´ve been paid (not a million dollars, but $80 an hour'"by his wife) to find out. I´m thinking, She´s nuts; he´s faithful. But he walks toward me. I bat my eyelashes and give him a fake name. Within minutes, he says, "Want to see my car out back?"

Like the vast majority of men I´ve been paid to "tempt," this one just failed my Sexy Decoy fidelity test. My name is Sarah Jamison, and I´ve worked as an undercover private investigator for 12 years. I specialize in surveillance for the Los Angeles private investigation firm I own, Themis International (themisonline.com). About four years ago I noticed a trend: My clients, mostly women, started pleading with me to come up with a foolproof means of testing their spouses´ loyalty. So I did.

Here´s how the Sexy Decoy test works: A woman who fears that her man is cheating has either me or one of the 15 women I subcontract sit at a bar he hangs out in. (Sometimes, men call us worried that their wives are cheating, so I employ a few men, too. But guess what? Nearly every single woman we´ve investigated was faithful in our presence.) Our job is to appear available and to see if the man takes the bait. We don´t want to entrap him. It wouldn´t be fair to have a Playboy Playmate jump onto his lap and say, "Do me ahora mismo!" Sexy Decoys wait for the man to make the first move. Of course, we never go anywhere with the guy. Sometimes, I even have bodyguards for the decoys somewhere else in the bar. Decoys always come up with an excuse to bail at the last minute. But we videotape the entire incident with miniature cameras attached to our purses or clothing. And the next day, we show the client how her man reacted to temptation.

Here´s what I´ve learned about the state of fidelity in America: As I mentioned earlier, most men (or at least 99 percent of men who´ve unwittingly taken my test) are willing to cheat.

I´ve also learned that most women who discover that their men are potential cheaters still don´t leave them. Many of them don´t even confront their guys with the videotaped proof. They just accept it as a fact of life.

That´s partially why, most of the time, I try to talk women out of the test. Sure, that´s money out of my pocket. But I explain that a healthy relationship is built on trust, and if they don´t trust their partners (which they clearly don´t by the time they call me), they need a therapist, not a private eye.

But the truth is, I don´t see my business slowing down any time soon. I get at least 15 Decoy requests from across the country per week. In fact, I´ve got Decoys working in several different states, like New York, Texas and North Carolina. Most men hate what I do for a living. I was on a radio show once, and a man called in to say that I was "morally reprehensible." Men say they´re only human. I say that being human means you have the ability to choose to cheat. There´s nothing wrong with looking, there´s nothing wrong with flirting, but when it comes to actually doing it'"there´s no excuse. Period.
