What Not to Say on a First Date! by DDHG

So you've snagged a date with that cute guy from work. Before you get ready to charm his pants off, here are a few tips for things not to bring up on that crucial first date.

1. Your Ex
It seems obvious, but you'd be surprised how many people bring up their romantic pasts on a first date. Trust us on this one! Your potential paramour doesn't want to hear about the minutiae of your broken engagement or divorce. You don't want to bring up and ex on a first date because it may seem to your new cutie that you're not completely over your ex, since you can't seem to shut up about him. Save the details on the ex-factor for Date #6, when you've gotten to know each other a little better or better yet, wait until he asks you about it.

2. Romantic Escapades
No one wants to hear about that time you bedded that handsome stranger in Mexico. A girl should never reveal those things to a potential lest she be judged as a slut or ***. We wouldn't want that now would we?

3. Kids
Try not to scare the man off by bringing up kids on the first date, particularly if he doesn't have any. If, on the other hand, he does have kids and he wants to talk about them, go for it. And if he asks you directly whether or not you want to have kids, answer honestly, but keep it brief. Don't go on and on about the baby names you picked out and the fabulous designer crib you've had your eye on.

4. The Last Date You Went On
Please spare your new date the horrid details of your last date. No one wants to hear it. Enough said.

5. Sex
Ladies, you shouldn't bring up sex on the first date. Your date will think you're either sexually aggressive or a big slut. Neither is a good label to have on you. Play coy if he asks you questions about sex, as well. If sex is the dominant topic on a first date, you want to reexamine what you think his motives are for taking you out.
