Who Leaves a Relationship More Often? Men or Women? by Kerry L. Gray - The Love Doctor

The answer is, women leave relationships more often than men. It is an age-old myth that men run from relationships and women do everything they can to keep them. Two thirds of all divorces in this country are initiated by women. That's right: women are doing the leaving!

In the 1950s, eighty percent of all households were married couples; today it is only fifty percent. Married couples with children were the most common family unit; today only twenty-five percent of households are married couples with children, and that percentage will shrink to one-fifth by the year 2010. What happened? Women began leaving marriages en masse, by the millions, in droves. This is a major shift
in the landscape of the American family, and it has received little attention by the media. The reasons women leave are many and varied, but the proof is there. Women leave relationships more often than men. They leave
because they are unhappy with the institution of marriage, and find it does not support them like they thought it would. Ninety percent of all women marry once before the age of fifty, which means young women do grow up believing in
marriage, believing it will support them and they will thrive and be happy within it. Why have so many women grown unhappy with the institution of marriage? -- Kerry L. Gray, kerry@dontdatehimgirl.com
