Mommy Mating
Why Some Moms Just Won't Mate! by Rachel Grant
Dear DDHG,
I've got a problem. I can't seem to go out with anyone my daughter will approve of. I have been divorced from her father for 3 years. He's already moved on and gotten remarried. She seems fine with her stepmom. They are very close and I'm happy about that. But when it comes to me, it seems that every guy she meets that I date, she hates. I haven't been on a date in a year because of this. What can I do?
-- Confused Mommy Mater
Dear Confused,
It's okay. Take a deep breath. The first thing you need to do is sit your daugher down and let her know that he same happiness her dad has with her stepmom is the exactly what you're looking for and she's not helping by downing each guy you try to date.
Next, don't seclude yourself from the dating scene, despite your daughter's reaction. Get out there and find a great guy. When you do, tell your daughter about it before she meets the guy. That should ease some of the tension when they finally do meet. It's going to be a process, but you deserve the same happiness that your daughter's father has, without all the interference. -- Rachel Grant
