So what's all the hype surrounding online dating? Can you really find the man of your dreams with your computer and the Internet? One DDHG member asked:
With the huge popularity of online dating sites, do you really think it's possible to find a lasting relationship online? I've tried on several different sites and always end up with players, guys who say they're one thing, but are really far from it and married guys who are looking to date on the side. I've given up!

While your situation with online dating seems in todays age to be common I still believe there exists the possibility of finding a genuine and lasting relationship online. It is just that the odds are against you when you consider how many married men are online, along with men cheating on their girlfriends and also men that just want to use women. The truth may be that there exists a great guy out there that you could potentially meet on an online dating site - but the sad part is that it may be difficult to find what you are looking for as most men on these sites have used them in an abusive manner to prey upon women. If you meet someone online you should not only do a standard background and criminal check but also observe your conversations and communication with them. If you review your communication with him you may be able more clearly see his intentions and wether he genuinely has feelings for you or may just want a physical relationship. Hang in there and it may be tough but you have an advantage in being able to see through what these men 'in most cases' succeed in hiding. Also once you begin online dating sites in a lot of cases they suck you in and often you may not realize how much time you spend on them. So for some social advice I recommend going out with your friends and meeting guys the traditional way - just to mix it up.
