| My girlfriend is going through a situation where her guy hit her yesterday during an argument. It was like a slap across the face. He's a great guy who's never, ever done this before. They been together for a long time. She wants to forgive him, but should she? She thinks it might be the start of domestic violence. |

And that it is. It can take years for a man to bring out the demon of hitting a woman and he will do it again only next time it will be harder.

| Sure, she should forgive him... if she liked it and wants to make sure that it will happen again. And it will happen sooner than another 3 year interval. Once that self-control barrier is broken AND he finds out that she will allow it, the next time won't be nearly as hard and will be MUCH easier to rationalize. Every abuser was a nice, sweet, charming guy that treated his woman well at some point. That was before the gloves came off. Some men just can maintain that "nice" front longer. Sounds like he was one of the "longer" ones. |
