Happy Mother's Day!
Dear Girls and Guys,
You won't believe what happened to me this week. It is incredible, a big shocking surprise.
Long ago, when I was sixteen, I made the decision to give up for adoption a precious baby boy. I loved his daddy very much. We went steady for two years, wrote love letters than I still have, and had a promise ring from him. We were very much in love. He was seventeen. Tragically, he was killed in a hunting accident before we could tell our parents I was pregnant. My family gathered around and supported me in my grief.
I went to a private maternity home to continue school, medical care, and receive special legal and psychological counseling, living with other girls, and we were all considering adoption. Over time I decided I could love him the most by giving him the best chance at a life he might have, the best chance by having two loving, older, established and educated parents.
It was the hardest thing I have ever done, and the greatest gift I ever gave anyone, his two parents.
This week, the agency contacted me that he had finally registered and we can meet! I've been registered twelve years, and never knew if he would register or not, but he did!. So far, I have learned his name is Kyle and he lives in Pennsylvania.
I spoke to his dad and emailed his sister. Kyle himself is camping and I will get to talk with him when he is back on Tuesday. His sister sent me pictures, and I looked in this handsome young man's face, and saw my eyes. I see parts of my daughters and me, a flash of my brother and my father.
He looks like us, which was a surprise because I had assumed he would look like his father's side of the family, so the surprise that he looks like us, too, is delicious. I get to meet him this week! I'll write a blog about it and you send me your adoption stories, too.
I will have to put him up under the new Hot Eye Candy section because he is 33, single, and handsome, girls! So I'm celebrating my special Mother's Day news with our readers at Don't Date Him Girl! I found my son for Mother's Day! -- Kerry Gray, kerry@dontdatehimgirl.com
With love to all you mothers everywhere, Happy Mother's Day from all of us at Don't Date Him Girl!
