Inside a Man's Mind - 3 Reasons Men Shut Down Emotionally
Bookmark and Share
Men, by nature, are wired differently than women. While women are emotional beings, men tend to keep what they're feeling to themselves. So why do men shut down their emotions so easily?

1. To avoid conflict - when confronted with conflict, men flee both emotionally and physically. They don't want to deal with the messiness of feelings like anger, resentment and pain.

2. It's not that important - what a woman might think is important to a man, he may not even give a second thought to. For example, if your guy gets into a fender bender, he's most likely going to brush it off and keep going, while a woman may cry and get angry. To a guy, it's not worth investing emotions in the situation, since to him, the insurance company and police are the ones who have to handle everything.

3. To avoid feeling bad - guys hate feeling bad about themselves and others. So, often, a guy will internalize their emotions and withdraw rather than feel those icky emotions. While women embrace their feelings whether they're good or bad, men avoid the bad ones and keep the good ones flowing.
