A google search of the words "infidelity forums" brings up over 10,000 hits. Women log into these forums and within minutes, quickly share their deepest darkest secrets with virtual strangers. Their pleas for help and advice get many answers within minutes. The women become each other's therapists. Being anonymous makes it easy to share things too painful to discuss face to face with real family and friends.
The online forums have their own web speak, or codes, for the common words of cheating. BS is the betrayed spouse in an EMA, or extra-marital affair. The WS, wayward spouse, might be having a MLC, midlife crisis, that leads to D-Day, the day the affair is discovered. Women freely discuss their WH, wandering husband, and the OW, other woman, OM, other man, and AF, affair partner.
Cheating can be a PA, physical affair, but an EA, emotional affair, counts as cheating also. The women online in these forums offer support, comfort and brutal honesty. "Get out now" one wrote. "I kept giving my husband chances, and he kept going back to the OW. She was just a manhole my husband kept falling into."
Their advice might not be for everyone, but the posters are generally honest about their experiences, emotions and the aftermath of cheating and how it has impacted their lives.
