Q. Dear DDHG,
I've been with a guy for over two years. He has a MySpace page. I do not. Overall, he's a good guy, but I've noticed something about his MySpace page that is bothering me. Although we've been together for two years and live together, he hasn't changed his relationship status. It still says he's single, when he's really been in a relationship for years. He spends a lot of time on MySpace and has quite a few female friends on it that he says he's never met in person. He calls them his "cybergirls". I've stayed quiet about this for quite sometime, but it really annoys me. I'm wondering what I should do about it? Please help! P.S. - You've got a great site!
A. To answer your question, we asked our resident advice guy, The Average Guy, to weigh in. Here's what he had to say - since it sounds like you've never asked your guy about this, I would recommend asking him politely to change his status.
It's probably just a case of something where he might have had his MySpace page before he met you and at that time he was single. He probably hasn't looked at his status since that time. We're guys, we don't usually keep track of things like that.
As for the cybergirls, it's probably just harmless given that you said he was a good guy who otherwise has never given you a reason to distrust him. So your best bet would be to ask him about it and give him the opportunity to change his status instead of getting into a huge argument with him about it. Remember, you'll always catch more flies with honey than you will with vinegar. -- The Average Guy
